During GAT Expo Mexico 2025 , held at the EXPO Santa Fe Convention Center , a keynote address was held on "Payments, Accounts, and Credits in the Gaming Industry." The panel featured the expertise of Alex Herrera, Commercial Director of KLU , who introduced  Alan Parra, Director of AIEJA Online; Alberto Djemal, CEO of Klu Tech; and Fabián Ferrari, former CEO of Getnet Santander , who shared trends, challenges, and technological solutions applied to financial management in casinos and gaming platforms.

Transformations

To begin, Fabián Ferrari, former CEO of Getnet Santander, explained that “In the last 10 years, we have seen the most significant transformation in payment methods and the movement of money in Mexico. Because if I go back 10 years, or perhaps 15, there was only one banking institution with which a company in this industry could open an account, manage its flows, have its payment acceptance, even issue a card. The only possibility came from banking. In the last 10 years, the great evolution that has occurred in the country to develop the efficiency of fintechs allows industries like this to have access to payment acceptance, money movement, account deposits, in electronic payment financial institutions, which did not exist before.”

He added that this is "an industry that is clearly restricted to banking, and that's why it requires a lot of monitoring, audits, and a series of elements that must be met when participating in the relationship between the bank and an industry like this."

 What does the market want?

Then it was Alan Parra's turn , Director of AIEJA Online , who did not hesitate that "there is an evolution that has led this entire market, when we make the fact online, well, the first way is, how do I receive the money? And there is a platform on which the businesses we have can be developed. Now, when we analyze the options with a processor, what does the market want? What are our two clients asking for? What are they receiving from these alliances? So, you want an ally that can give the service that the player requires, that gives them a fast experience, that gives them security, of course, and on the operator's side you also need a series of things, we already know that in the industry there are many factors that come into play, there is the supplier part, there is the operator part, there is the pensioner part, more between them, more than an affinity is needed, a flexibility. Who is going to be your ally that is going to help you develop this business? And this is the basics, nothing more than we have to comply, we have not yet entered into what follows, and as we talked about it, as well as There is a process of evolution of all this, starting from the basic solution of how do I make a payment on a page, now we are at a point where we talk about cryptos, other options, other types of banking that we put in the hands of our players, so, the conversation is already changing a little to all those additional add-ons that we have.”

And he closed by asking, "What is this business partner offering me, and what are they giving me beyond the basics, which we already know, so that an operator can truly succeed?

The ailments of the industry

Then Alberto Djemal CEO of Klu Tech, pointed out, “I think we are facing an industry that has been demonized, punished, that has had to suffer a lot, and in the end, the banking and transactional issue is not a minor issue. The fact of being able to transact your money becomes vital, but in an industry like this, I think the most important thing is to look at this industry that is growing, that is being regulated more and more every day, and that this will only continue to grow.”

And he added “they talked about the problems they have with illegal gambling, in the end it is something that many industries suffer, we for example also suffer the same in the financial area, but I think the message is clear, we must combat it of course, sometimes it is impossible to control it, but if you are regulated correctly, then that is where you can access these financial products and services but today more than a means of payment, as Alex said, we understand specific solutions, giving them a bank account that can understand them, that can recognize their needs, that they can receive their payments with different means of payment, via cash and means of payment such as debit and credit cards, being able to provide solutions to both online casinos and physical rooms, where we can also issue cards with an eco-emission to their players so that they can use them as a means of payment in physical rooms, we also have credit products for the industry, where they can access certain credits”

And then he highlighted that “it is an industry that is almost embedded in the new generations, you watch a game of any sport and you see an advertisement more than X number of times, and there are all the parental controls and limits and risks that we can put in place to establish the appropriate controls, but it is an industry that is going to grow, so we have taken a step to understand, in the end we understand the challenges they have, and well, we talk about the challenges of receiving money, of paying money abroad, the message is, without a doubt, we must work together, from the financial sector, and you as an industry, to build, to understand, to improve and to expand all the benefits you can obtain, and it is something that we have built with a very complete package, so that is my message at the end of the day, and we must continue building together.”

Finally, he explained that “Latin America is undergoing a very important transformation around technology, highly leveraged by what AI is generating, and this industry cannot escape that. In management committees, it must continue to be part of the agenda, talking about the transformation of technology and artificial intelligence, and hand in hand with everything that this industry is going to see in technological developments, we need to have a partner in the financial services sector that adapts to all this technological evolution that we are going to continue seeing. Without a doubt, having a partner that is flexible, that we can tell our plans to, how we want to make the technological evolutions, how we want to expand our market, and that can be easily connected to our strategy, I think that is key to the growth of this sector that is growing and that must be built through the right financial allies.”
